The Art@Work residency involved working alongside archaeologist from The Irish Discovery Program, during the excavation of a site on the grounds of the Cruachan Aí Heritage Centre in Tulsk, Roscommon, during the summer of 2008. My interest was in observing and learning archaeological methodologies of recording and documenting, and integrating these into my own practice, as a means to explore relationships between history, myth and deep memory. Over the course of the residency I used drawing, photography, field notes and audio recordings to trace daily journeys recording the land and community surrounding this site, unearthing relationships between past and present, and the nature of how a scientific method such as archaeology is used to construct a particular narrative to relate this.
